What is Horizon Homeschool Cooperative?

The Horizon Homeschool Cooperative provides an opportunity for Christian homeschooling families to partner together to create a cooperative teaching and learning environment for grades K-12.

*All kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by September 1st of the current school year.

 

Who instructs the classes?

Currently we are offering three classes for grades 1-6: P.E., Art, and Unit Studies.  In general our classes will be taught by hired teachers from our talented organization of parents.  We require a federal background check with a SSN# be completed for all teachers and parent helpers.

Junior high and high school activities vary from week to week.

 

How much MONEY does it cost?

-- A $35 nonrefundable registration fee for each family, to be turned in with registration forms

-- $80 fall building fee 

--$80 spring building fee

-- $20 per month tuition for each child in 1st - 6th grade

-- $30 per month tuition for each kindergartner

-- $160 per semester for each HC2 student

Payment is collected to compensate teachers and pay for materials. Tuition is due on the first class day of the month

 

Parent Volunteer Time Commitment?

A parent from each family must volunteer as a helper on 5 separate co-op days.  

 

How do I enroll my children?

Once you have filled out the required forms (attached to your profile), you must register your child for their class on the Class Registration page.

 

Attendance Policy
Please communicate all absences to Taylor Paris, our Calendar/Parent Coordinator.  Excessive absences (more than 2 absences a month, or 4 per semester), without communication to a coordinator, could result in your child's spot being filled by a family on the wating list.

 

Required Parent Information Meeting

We hold a mandatory parent meeting annually in August at First Baptist Church in Savoy.

 

When do classes begin?

Classes begin in September and run through May

Classes meet 12:30-3:20

 

Where do classes meet?

HCK and HC1 will meet at First Baptist Church in Savoy, IL.  HC2 will sometimes meet at First Baptist, with occasional field trips to other Champaign County locations.
